Can I Sweeten or Add Milk to My Cold Brew Tea?

The cold brew method tends to create a sweeter tea than more bitter iced tea, first brewed with hot water, but there is still a lot of room for added flavors and sweeteners.

You could sweeten any of our teas with honey, agave, or simple syrup.

If you want a creamier tea, add milk or dairy alternatives to create your desired flavor profile.

Cold brew tea is highly customizable, so you can get creative with your additions. Try fruits, lemon slices, fresh mint leaves and herbs, lemon juice or other citrus juice, and anything else you like to mix up your cold brewed teas.

Is Iced Tea Different From Cold Brew Tea?

Iced tea, by definition, is tea served over ice. While you can make iced tea out of a cold brew tea, iced tea is typically made by pouring traditionally hot tea over ice.

Instead, cold brew is made by steeping tea in cold water.

Ice tea made from hot tea can have a few differences. The hot liquid over the ice can cause the ice to melt and the tea to be watered down, yet the tea may also have a higher caffeine content than the cold brew.

Cold brewed tea can be sweeter and smoother, plus have more flavor and depth due to it being less watered down.

Some people also like to create iced tea out of sun tea which is made by putting loose tea leaves or tea bags and room-temperature water in a glass jar and letting it heat up while the tea steeps in the sun.

How Long Does Cold Brew Tea Last in the Fridge?

A hot-brewed tea should be consumed the same day it was made, but you can enjoy a batch of cold-brewed for several days if you keep it refrigerated! Cold brew tea can last in the fridge for 3 to 5 days.

Does Cold Brewing Tea Affect Caffeine Levels?

Making cold-brew tea causes it to lose some caffeine levels, just like cold-brew coffee. A cold-brewed tea can lose about 50% of the caffeine content compared to hot-brewed tea.
